On Tuesday 7 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 199 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 888 fatalities (three new deaths since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.

199 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 3,024 tests carried out the day before, representing 31.35 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 6.59%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 271.00. 

A total of 72 people are in hospital with the virus, including 23 patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 5,228 active infections known, whilst a total of 85,792 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.04.

A total of 940,551 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (450,033 first doses, 393,399 second doses, 97,119 additional doses). A total of 433,880 people are now fully vaccinated.

From 6 December 2021, the Ministry of Health is including the incidence rates of new infections by vaccination status in its daily reports. These new infections only affect people who return a positive PCR test. On Tuesday, the incidence rate for unvaccinated individuals was reported as 52.77; for vaccinated individuals, this was 20.59.
