On Friday 6 August 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 50 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 824 fatalities (no new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
50 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 5,475 tests carried out the day before, representing 7.88 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 0.91%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 39.43.
A total of 22 people are in hospital with the virus, including five patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Thursday 5 August 2021, there are currently 902 active infections known, whilst a total of 72,536 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.86.
A total of 726,230 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (395,857 first doses, 330,373 second doses); 503 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 2,675 received their second dose on Thursday. A total of 363,603 people are now fully vaccinated.
The Health Ministry no longer communicates data relating to COVID-19 on weekends.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
