On Thursday 21 January 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 115 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 562 fatalities (zero new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.

115 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 6,981 tests carried out the day before, representing 18.37 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.65%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 118.71. 

A total of 72 people are in hospital with the virus, including 14 patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 2,258 active infections known, whilst a total of 46,499 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.97.

To date, a total of 6,193 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg; 451 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 449 individuals received their second dose on Wednesday 20 January 2021.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
