On Monday 10 August 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported the arrest of a man suspected of involvement in several burglaries and attempted burglaries in Luxembourg City last week.
On Thursday 6 August 2026 at around 03:30, police received a report of an attempted break-in involving a van on Rue Fort Wallis in Luxembourg-Gare. According to initial information, the man had first attempted to break into a nearby bakery before targeting the van. Police found damage at both locations.
Officers launched a search and located the suspect shortly afterwards on Boulevard Roosevelt. The man had sustained injuries and initially received medical treatment. According to the police, the injuries may have resulted from a break-in at an establishment on nearby Rue de Chimay.
On the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office, police arrested the suspect and brought him before an investigating judge later that afternoon.
Later that morning, police received reports of further burglaries at establishments in Luxembourg-Ville, including on Grand-Rue. Officers found smashed windows at both premises. A cash register had been stolen from one establishment and was later found in the entrance of a nearby building, while several bottles of alcohol had reportedly been stolen from the other.
Police noted that the subsequent investigation indicated that the man already under arrest may also have been responsible for these incidents.
