According to the initial findings, the man first attempted to force open several windows of the house. He then gained entry by climbing onto a balcony and smashing a window. Once inside, he searched several rooms and placed the stolen items into a bag that also belonged to the homeowner.
While officers at the scene were examining evidence and reviewing CCTV footage, they heard a noise at the front of the house. A man then jumped from a balcony, landing directly in front of the officers. The suspect initially resisted arrest but was subdued by the officers. A search uncovered cash and various items of jewellery, which were seized. All of the recovered stolen property was subsequently returned to the owner.
On the instructions of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge.
Then, at around 18:30 on Wednesday, a police patrol in the Gonderange area observed a vehicle whose driver had carried out a dangerous and unlawful manoeuvre while joining the motorway.
During the subsequent vehicle check, officers established that an arrest warrant had been issued for the driver. As they detected the smell of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle, they carried out a search. Drugs and cash were found beneath the front passenger seat. A further search of the suspect resulted in the seizure of additional drugs. A roadside drugs test also returned a positive result.
On the instructions of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect's mobile phone, the drugs and the cash were seized, and a search was carried out at his home address. Additional drugs and cash were recovered during the search. The man was arrested on the instructions of the public prosecutor's office and brought before an investigating judge the following morning.
