The municipality of Clervaux in northern Luxembourg officially inaugurated its new "Konschtpark" on Tuesday 30 June 2026, in the presence of Luxembourg’s Minister for Agriculture, Food and Viticulture, Martine Hansen, Mayor Georges Keipes, members of the municipal council and partners who contributed to the project.
The municipality noted that the new public space, built on the site of the former mini-golf course, is dedicated to relaxation, nature, culture and community life. A large part of the construction work was carried out directly by the municipal services, showcasing the expertise, dedication and craftsmanship of the municipality's technical teams.
Inspired by the Cittaslow philosophy, the park encourages visitors to slow down, take time to observe, play, create and enjoy a natural environment where biodiversity and contemporary art exist in perfect harmony.
The park offers a wide range of attractions, including a wooden marble run, a panoramic viewing overlooking Clervaux, picnic and relaxation areas, a life-sized chessboard integrated into the ground, a landscaped pond crossed by stepping stones, open-air artworks, and several discovery and observation platforms.
The municipality said environmental sustainability is at the heart of the project. In cooperation with Naturpark Our (Our Natural Park), several areas have been designed to promote biodiversity. Native plants and shrubs, permeable pathways and environmentally friendly landscape management create valuable habitats for pollinators such as bees, hoverflies and butterflies, enhancing the ecological richness of the site.
The Konschtpark is also intended as a place for artistic expression. As part of the Clervaux – Cité de l’image project, the park will host Whispers of the Sunlit Coast by artist Kim Lang until 30 May 2027. The exhibition area, “Jardin Bellevue,” is one of nine contemporary outdoor exhibition gardens located throughout the public spaces of Clervaux.
Local creativity is equally represented. Young people from the Jugendtreff Norden, together with artist Adrien Toussaint, created a mural on the park's technical building, expressing their own colourful vision of Clervaux.
The Konschtpark is also designed as a participatory space. At the end of 2025, the municipality's City Management department invited residents to decorate wooden flowers that were distributed free of charge. The municipality said the initiative was met with great enthusiasm, and nearly 100 personalised flowers are now displayed throughout the park, symbolising the community's active involvement in this collective project.
Moreover, the park features an educational platform that is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. Schools, artists and associations are invited to organise creative outdoor workshops in this dedicated space, where the resulting artworks can be exhibited directly on site, making the Konschtpark a vibrant place for creativity, learning and exchange.
The inauguration of the park also marked the official unveiling of new street furniture in the town. Designed in collaboration with designer Julie Conrad and EPR Mobility, it has been installed at various locations throughout Clervaux. The municipality said the contemporary design blends harmoniously into the public space while enhancing both the townscape and the comfort of residents and visitors alike.
