On Sunday 15 and Monday 16 June 2026, Luxembourg showcased its defence industry and highlighted new measures to support the sector at the 2026 edition of Eurosatory, the international defence and security exhibition, held in Paris, France.

Luxembourg’ Minister of Defence Yuriko Backes and Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism Lex Delles attended the exhibition and opened the Luxembourg pavilion, which featured more than 20 national companies.

During the ceremony, Minister Backes presented the latest edition of the Luxembourg Defence Industrial and Technological Base catalogue. Published for the first time in a fully digital format by Luxinnovation in cooperation with Luxembourg Defence Directorate, the catalogue lists 122 companies and research organisations offering products or services developed or manufactured in Luxembourg for the security and defence sector.

According to Luxembourg’s Defence Directorate and Ministry of the Economy, Minister Backes said: "We need a strong, innovative and integrated European defence ecosystem with a strong Luxembourg footprint. Luxembourg Defence fully recognises that industry plays a central role in ensuring our resilience and maintaining our strategic advantage."

Minister Delles outlined measures included in Luxembourg's national defence industry strategy. These include the launch of the National Defence Fund, the creation of a campus dedicated to defence activities, the preparation of a new legal framework for defence related products and the introduction of a dedicated defence category in the next edition of the Fit 4 Start programme.

He stated: "The growing presence of Luxembourg companies at Eurosatory demonstrates that the Grand Duchy has high value added expertise and technologies in the fields of security and dual use. The government will support this momentum by promoting innovation, integration into European value chains and the establishment of appropriate conditions, notably through a dedicated site and a new legal framework. Our ambition is to strengthen European sovereignty, encourage the establishment of new companies and generate tangible economic returns, creating skilled jobs and new opportunities for our economy."

During Eurosatory 2026, both ministers also held bilateral political meetings and met with representatives of the Luxembourg and international defence, aerospace and space industries.
