On Monday 15 June 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that a man was arrested and placed in secure psychiatric care following the use of a pistol in Erpeldange-sur-Sûre on Sunday 14 June 2026.
According to the initial information, late on Sunday evening the police received reports of several shots being heard in Erpeldange-sur-Sûre.
A police patrol immediately attended the scene and, following further enquiries, located a suspect in a café in Ettelbruck.
A search of the man's rucksack resulted in the discovery and seizure of a blank-firing pistol, corresponding ammunition and two illegal folding knives.
Following further findings, the man was placed in secure psychiatric care on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
