The Grand Ducal Police have reported several incidents that occurred on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 May 2026, including arrests linked to public disturbances, multiple drink-driving offences and thefts from vehicles.

On Friday at around 22:50, police were called to a bar on Grand-Rue in Ettelbruck following reports of an intoxicated man harassing customers outside the premises. A police patrol found the individual, who had reportedly already attracted negative attention earlier in the evening and had previously been instructed by officers to return home. As he showed clear signs of alcohol consumption and was disturbing public order, he was taken into custody after undergoing a medical examination.

Later that night, police officers in the station district of Luxembourg City noticed a possibly intoxicated man on Place de la Gare who was shouting and harassing security personnel. As he was considered a danger to himself and others due to his condition, officers decided to place him in custody to sober up.

The police also recorded several drink-driving offences during the same period.

At around 20:10 on Friday, a traffic accident involving material damage was reported on Route d'Esch in Huncherange. Neither of the two drivers involved was injured. However, one driver tested positive for alcohol and had his driving licence confiscated.

At approximately 02:15 on Saturday, police officers on Rue du Fort Wedell in Luxembourg-Gare stopped a driver after observing dangerous driving behaviour. The driver failed an alcohol test, resulting in the confiscation of his licence and the drawing up of an official report.

Around 03:30, police received reports of a vehicle being driven erratically on the A4 motorway near the Foetz exit towards Luxembourg City. Officers located the driver shortly afterwards. The alcohol test carried out on the driver came back positive and the driving licence was confiscated.

Another driver was reported in Mamer at around 04:20 for allegedly speeding through the town. Police stopped the vehicle shortly afterwards and, following a positive alcohol test, also confiscated the driver's licence.

In addition, police reported several thefts from vehicles. On Friday evening, for example, a theft from a vehicle was reported on Rue Albert Borschette in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. According to initial information, the perpetrator smashed the passenger-side window to gain access to the vehicle and stole a backpack, among other items. An investigation has been launched.

On Saturday morning, another theft was reported involving a camper van parked in Schifflange. According to initial findings, the perpetrator entered the vehicle and searched through its contents. Further investigations are underway.

The police reminded the public that preventive advice regarding thefts from vehicles is available on their website at https://police.public.lu/fr/publications/2020/prevention-contre-vol-dans-vehicules-de-fr.html
