Anyone who has struggled with the vagaries of Luxembourgish spelling will appreciate the brochured published today by the Ministry of National Eduaction, Childhood and Youth following the "Wees du wéi? Schreiwen.lu" media campaign, created to make the general public aware of the language's main spelling rules in a relaxed way using popular quotations from Luxembourgish culture, literature, music, films etc.
While the media campaign has just ended, the central element of the project remains active on the website: www.schreiwen.lu. The site has already attracted 55,000 internet viewers, providing them with the chance to deepen their understanding of the subject. The digital brochure, which contains all of the orthographic rules, can now be downloaded free of charge.
A printed version of the brochure will also be distributed in the coming weeks in public schools, libraries, communes, youth centers, etc.
