A series of apartment buildings on Rue Stalingrad in Esch-sur-Alzette were evacuated early yesterday morning after fire broke out in the roof of one of them.

Roads in front of the buildings were closed for several hours while firefighters saw to the blaze, as residents sheltered in a nearby restaurant.

The roads were re-opened at around 10:30. 

The prosecutor’s office has been notified.
