This Thursday 16 February 2017, Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg will celebrate her 26th birthday.

Tomorrow marks 26 years since the birth of Princess Alexandra Joséphine Teresa Charlotte Marie Wilhelmine, Princess of Luxembourg and of Nassau and Bourbon-Parma.

The princess, who is the fourth child and only daughter of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, was born at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte on 16 February 1991.

Princess Alexandra went to primary school in Angelsberg and then the Lycée Vauban in Luxembourg where she obtained her Baccalaureate in Arts and Literature (with honours) in 2009.

The princess is currently preparing her Master in conflict resolution in Dublin, having completed university studies in the United States and Paris. She has also worked in the field of journalism in the Middle East, and acquired experience in international relations while doing an internship at the Security Council of the United Nations in New York during the period when Luxembourg was a non-permanent member.

Princess Alexandra is interested in politics and religious studies and she volunteers with refugees.

A polyglot, the Princess speaks fluent Luxembourgish, French, English and Spanish. She also has a good knowledge of German and Italian.

In terms of official activities, the Princess of Luxembourg takes part in the activities of the Grand Ducal Family when possible and attends ceremonies or official activities such as the National Holiday or the end of the Octave Celebration of Our Lady of Luxembourg.

Princess Alexandra’s interests include literature and sports such as tennis and water-skiing, as well as travelling.
