On Thursday 10 September 2026, Auchan Retail Luxembourg and SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde launched their annual back-to-school fundraising campaign, running until Saturday 26 September in the three Auchan hypermarkets in Luxembourg (Kirchberg, Opkorn Differdange and Cloche d'Or) and their shopping centres.

This joint solidarity action, organised with the support of Nhood Luxembourg and Iko Real Estate, is being held for the nineteenth time and will this year benefit vulnerable children and families in Guinea.

In 2026, the aim of the fund- and awareness-raising campaign is to support 800 vulnerable families living in nine municipalities across four locations in Guinea: Conakry, Kankan, Labé and N'Zérékoré. The project aims to support families in developing income-generating activities through start-up capital, advice and financial management training, enabling them to meet their children's essential needs independently.

Auchan and SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde noted that families in the West African country are exposed to multiple political, socio-economic and health-related crises, limiting access to sufficient and balanced food, healthcare, drinking water and adequate sanitation systems.

To support the campaign at the checkout, customers can add an amount of their choice to their receipt, donate part of their balance via the Auchan loyalty card or purchase one of the solidarity products available in the school supplies sections, with €1 per item donated to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde.

Customers can also learn more about SOS projects during the Solidarity Saturdays, when activities for children will be organised. These are scheduled for Saturday 12 September at Shopping Center Kirchberg, Saturday 19 September at Shopping Center Opkorn Differdange and Saturday 26 September at Shopping Center Cloche d'Or.

In addition, SOS donation boxes will be available in participating shops at the Kirchberg and Opkorn Differdange shopping centres.

On Thursday, Jean-Luc Carré, Commercial Director of Auchan Retail Luxembourg, Mathias Santerre, Director of Auchan Kirchberg, Sophie Glesener, Director of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde and the 2026 campaign team officially launched the initiative. “We are happy to come together around this annual solidarity initiative, which always produces tangible results on the ground thanks to the sustained and long-term support of families and communities determined to strengthen the protection and rights of their children and to respond as effectively as possible to their essential needs,” the partners in Luxembourg stated.

They also recalled that the 2025 campaign, dedicated to children and families in Moyale, Ethiopia, raised €19,500. The funds contributed to nutritional screening for more than 18,000 children and 5,000 pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as providing seeds and agricultural tools to 199 vulnerable female-headed households to help them develop family gardens and diversify their diets.
