On Wednesday 15 July 2026, Lex Delles, Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, and Muriel Morbé, CEO of the House of Training, presented certificates to the 79 graduates of the first intake to successfully complete Luxembourg's new foundation course for tourist guides.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Carlo Thelen, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce.

The course was introduced at the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy and developed in partnership with the House of Training.

According to the Ministry of the Economy, having recognised the key role that tourist guides play in the quality of visitors' experiences, it sought to establish an accessible and recognised training programme. Unveiled by Minister Delles on 7 November 2025, the foundation course forms part of a wider effort to strengthen the quality and visibility of Luxembourg's tourism sector while recognising the essential contribution guides make to promoting the country's cultural, natural and historical heritage.

Lasting around 25 hours, the course combines online learning (e-learning) with face-to-face teaching through a blended learning approach. It enables participants to develop knowledge of Luxembourg's geography, history, natural heritage, culture and economy, while also providing broader skills in areas such as accessibility and group management. Offered in four languages (Luxembourgish/German, French and English), the course is open to anyone with an interest in becoming a tourist guide, with no prior qualifications required.

The ministry detailed that the 79 graduates completed the programme alongside their professional and personal commitments, demonstrating a high level of dedication and remarked “Equipped with their newly acquired knowledge and skills, participants now have a strong foundation to continue their work at regional level and pursue further training in specialist subjects. They will help bring Luxembourg closer to visitors by showcasing the distinctive character of each region”.

“Providing visitors with a high-quality experience is at the heart of our tourism strategy. Investing in the training of tourist guides is therefore a direct investment in the attractiveness of the Grand Duchy,” said Minister Delles.

“Your strength lies not only in sharing information with visitors, but also in your ability to help them discover every region of the country,” added Muriel Morbé.

Further information about the next training cycle will be announced towards the end of 2026. Interested individuals can find more information on the Tourism Academy website: https://tourismacademy.lu/?lang=en
