On Tuesday 2 June 2026, the Kanner Jugendtelefon (KJT) telephone helpline service for children and young people announced the launch of its "100% Human" campaign, aimed at highlighting the importance of human connection, listening and support in an increasingly digital world.
According to KJT, the campaign seeks to emphasise what it describes as "genuine human presence, non-judgemental listening and real human connection" at a time when artificial intelligence is becoming part of many aspects of everyday life.
KJT reported that its volunteers conducted 2,171 conversations in Luxembourg during 2025. The organisation currently relies on 110 volunteers, who have been involved for an average of twelve to fifteen years.
Free of charge, confidential and accessible without complex procedures, KJT's services are available to children, teenagers, young adults, parents and families.
While digital technologies can offer useful opportunities, KJT argued that they cannot replace certain aspects of direct human interaction, including dedicated listening, reassurance and personal support. The organisation said this conviction forms the basis of its "100% Human" campaign.
KJT added that its experience shows a continuing need for human support, whether for children struggling to express themselves, teenagers reluctant to discuss issues with their parents or families facing difficult situations.
One young user of the service commented: "Are you a real person? That's good, because I want to talk to someone who feels emotions like I do."
KJT counsellors receive specialised training in telephone counselling as well as online and chat-based support. They help young people process emotions, explore possible solutions and identify their own strengths.
The organisation added that its counsellors also have extensive knowledge of Luxembourg's support network and can direct users to services and associations best suited to individual situations.
