The Natur- & Geopark Mëllerdall has announced a new edition of "Mëllerdall Days", taking place from Saturday 30 May to Tuesday 9 June 2026.
As part of European Geoparks Week, a diverse programme focusing on geology, nature, culture and regional history will take place across the Mëllerdall (Mullerthal) UNESCO Global Geopark region.
Various activities for children are included in the programme. For example, Heffingen will host a nature rally for families on Saturday 30 May 2026 from 09:30 to 13:30. Participants will have the opportunity to search for clues and explore subjects ranging from fossils dating back to when the region was still covered by the sea to archaeological discoveries linked to the Loschbourmann site. The 8 km route is suitable for children aged six and up accompanied by adults.
In the "Geology at Your Fingertips" workshop, children can create their own "devil's claws" from clay. This event is due to take place on Sunday 31 May 2026 in Schrondweiler and is already fully booked.
Those wishing to delve deeper into the history and development of the region can attend several lectures covering the influence of humans on the landscape since the Paleolithic era, the meaning of historical place names and strategies for helping communities adapt to climate change. Registration for all lectures can be completed online. Further information and the registration link are available at naturpark-mellerdall.lu.
Moreover, Ciné Sura in Echternach will screen the film La Promesse Verte (The Green Deal) in its original French version on Wednesday 3 June 2026 at 19:00. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Fairtrade Luxembourg on the topics of deforestation and palm oil. Admission to the film night is free.
An excursion titled "In the Footsteps of Mullerthal Industry" will offer the public the opportunity to visit three sites that have shaped - or continue to shape - regional industrial culture: the textile industry in Larochette, the steel industry in Fischbach and the Ernzen quarry, which remains operational today. The excursion will take place on Friday 5 June 2026 from 13:00 to 17:00 and is already fully booked.
The organisers also highlighted a picnic featuring regional products, taking place in Parc Tudor in Rosport on Sunday 7 June 2026 from 10:00 to 14:00. The picnic will be accompanied by an immersive theatre performance about Henri Tudor. During this interactive tour, professional actors will combine entertainment, culture and regional history. The experience will conclude with a visit to the interactive museum dedicated to Henri Tudor. Picnic baskets filled with regional products must be reserved. Full details and registration information are available at naturpark-mellerdall.lu.
Outdoor yoga and mindful hiking are also included in the programme. During the open-air Castle Yoga session at the medieval Beaufort Castle, participants will take part in an outdoor yoga session surrounded by history, culture and nature. The session will take place on Tuesday 2 June 2026 and is already fully booked.
Additionally, on Saturday 6 June 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00, a mindful hike invites visitors to discover the landscape around Consdorf, using all their senses. Participation is free of charge. Registration is available at naturpark-mellerdall.lu.
In addition, guided tours of the Geo-Expo in Beaufort are being organised for school groups during the Mëllerdall Days. The aim is to introduce children and teenagers to the formation of the region's unique geological, natural and cultural heritage. Geoscientist Birgit Kausch will lead the educational activities.
The complete Mëllerdall Days programme and further details are available on the dedicated website.
