The City of Luxembourg has estimated that tap water which had been contaminated recently in certain areas of the capital will be safe to drink again from tomorrow, Wednesday 20 January 2021.

The City of Luxembourg announced on Monday evening that the technical issue affecting drinking water in certain streets of the capital had been resolved and that a return to normal turbidity had been obtained. Overnight, the network in question was rinsed by the Water Department of the City of Luxembourg. As a precautionary measure, the department carried out an emergency chlorination of the water supplying the affected streets of the Ban de Gasperich. Microbiological analyses are being carried out this morning after rinsing to ensure the good quality of the water.

The warning may be lifted on Wednesday, provided the results of the analyses are conclusive.

The streets concerned are: Rue Emile Bian, Rue Robert Stumper, Rue Henri M. Schnadt, Boulevard de Kockelscheuer, Rue Jean Piret, Rue Leonardo Da Vinci, Rue Gerhard Mercator, Rue Albert Einstein, Rue Charles Darwin, Rue Lise Meitner, Boulevard F.W. Raiffeisen, Rue Isaac Newton and Rue Rosalind Franklin.
