Luxembourg non-profit Stëmm vun der Strooss (SvdS) has released a book detailing what life is like behind bars for the female inmates of Schrassig prison.
Entitled 'Foxtrott Women without Bars' after the female 'F' block of the prison, the book offers insight into the thoughts, feelings, dreams and ideas of women incarcerated on Luxembourg's penitentiary centre in the late 1990s. These are evoked through short, stories, poems, interviews, monologues and dialogues concerning a variety of subjects from these women behind bars.
Originally published in 1998, the last few copies are now available for purchase from Stëmm vun der Strooss, with all sales proceeds going towards the organisation. The nearly 100 pages of texts are written predominantly in German and French, but also Luxembourgish, Spanish and Portuguese.
