On Tuesday 18 February 2025, the Luxembourg Rugby Federation (Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Rugby - FLR) announced the appointment of James Kent as the new head coach of the senior men’s XV team.

37-year-old Kent is set to lead Luxembourg's Rugby senior men’s XV team for the remainder of current rugby Europe Trophy season. "This strategic decision reflects FLR’s ongoing commitment to raising the standard of rugby in Luxembourg and achieving new milestones on the international stage," stated FLR in a press release.

According to the FLR, previous coach and current Directeur Technique National (DTN), Alexandre Benedetti, will oversee the national sevens teams for the upcoming Small Nations (GSSE) tournaments and remaining fixtures, before focusing exclusively on rugby development. FLR said this shift will allow for "a more dedicated effort in nurturing young talent and expanding the sport’s reach across the country". The federation added that the DTN’s expertise will be "instrumental in shaping the future of Luxembourg rugby, ensuring a strong pipeline of skilled players for years to come".

FLR President, Jean-François Boulot, expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointment: "We are delighted to welcome James Kent to the FLR family. His expertise and passion for the game are exactly what we need to propel our senior men’s XV team to the next level. Meanwhile, our DTN’s focus on development will be crucial in building a solid foundation for the future of rugby in Luxembourg."

James Kent also shared his excitement about the new role: "I am honoured to take on this position and work with such a talented group of players. I look forward to contributing to the growth and success of rugby in Luxembourg."
