Melissa Dalton;

Luxembourg-based improvisational theatre (improv) company Dig Deep Improv has announced the upcoming launch of its new season, starting on Monday 8 September 2025.

Originally from Ireland, Melissa Dalton launched Dig Deep Improv when she moved to Luxembourg in 2021. She runs workshops, teambuilding sessions, training courses, jams and performances in improv, acting, storytelling and public speaking for all levels. The upcoming Taster Workshop and six-week course are open to complete beginners who have never tried improv before.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Melissa explained that the name Dig Deep comes from her mother's words of encouragement: "you're okay, come on, dig deep, be strong." She sees improv as a way to tap into that same courage: "Giving a presentation, a wedding speech or sharing an idea at work all takes bravery. If we dig deep, it's amazing how much strength we can find."

Melissa also described improv as "a wonderful art form" which she was working to bring to more people in Luxembourg. She explained that improv can benefit people's personal and professional lives and help them build various skills, from active listening and teamwork to encouraging creativity and celebrating their mistakes. She added that she hoped Dig Deep Improv would help "bring back a sense of play and silliness" to participants' daily lives and help them "reconnect with their inner child".

She also hoped they would gain confidence as they "loosen up" and meet new people. Regarding this social aspect, participants can also bond over food and drinks after each Dig Deep Improv workshop.

Melissa herself is an improviser, actor, voiceover artist, event host and radio presenter. "Teaching improv brings me an incredible amount of joy," she said. "It is fascinating to watch a group of people who don't know each other gather together to try something new and a little nerve-racking. Yet within a short time they are putting themselves out there, surprising themselves and being silly." She added that it was important to create a "safe environment" in her workshops. "Improv relies on a willingness to try, fail and to see where a scene takes us," she said.
