Luxembourg’s Ministry of Mobility and Public Works has announced the appointment of Laura Könner as Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate (DAC).

On Tuesday 18 February 2025, at the proposal of Luxembourg’s Minister of Mobility and Public Works, Yuriko Backes, the ministers convened in council approved the appointment of Laura Könner as Director of the DAC.

Laura Könner holds a Master of Science in Logistics from the University of Westminster (UK), a specialised Master's degree in Air Transport Management from the École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (France) and a postgraduate diploma in Aeronautical MRO & Engineering. She began her career at Airbus as a flight operations engineer and later assisted the CEO of a multinational company, focusing on digitalisation and sustainability within the mobility sector, noted the ministry. Prior to assuming her role as Acting Director of the DAC on 3 February, she worked at the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works as an aviation expert, representing the ministry internationally, particularly with Eurocontrol, the MUAC and the European Commission. She is also a board member of ALSA SA.

Minister Backes praised the appointment: "I would like to warmly congratulate Ms Könner on her appointment. Her exemplary career, expertise and vision will be valuable assets in addressing the challenges of the DAC. I wish her every success in this new mission.”

The DAC is the competent authority of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for aviation safety and security.
