A report published today by the Agence pour le Développement de l'Emploi (ADEM) and STATEC has revealed that the unemployment rate in the Grand Duchy remained stable from November to December 2015 at 6.7%.
On 31 December 2015, the number of available job seekers registered with ADEM stood at 18,865, indicating that the figure had dropped by 476 people or 2.6% in one year. It was also lower than the level in 2013, which on the same date amounted to 19,287. The number of job seekers registered for more than a year also fell, by 166 or 2%, compared to December 2014.
In December 2015, 1,938 registered with ADEM, representing an increase of 4.1% compared to the same month in 2014. 328 fewer people were found to be receiving full unemployment benefits in December 2015 compared with the previous year, standing at a total of 7,796 people.
In late December 2015, 5,255 people were involved in an employment measure, reflecting a 3.4% increase compared to December 2014. Employers also reported 4.4% more vancancies with ADEM in 2015 compared with the previous year, with a total of 1,925 available.
In December 2015, the majority of job seekers were men, at 9,985 compared with 8,880 women. The most commonly-found age demographic was those aged 50 and above, at 5,117, as was also the case in December 2014, at 5,090. The majority of resident job seekers were registered in the Luxembourg region, at 38.9%, followed by Esch-sur-Alzette (21.7%); Diekirch (11.9%); Differdange (10.9%); Dudelange (6.3%); Wiltz (5.9%); and finally Wasserbillig (4.4%).
