The Advertising Council of Luxembourg has submitted its updated code of ethics to better respond to specific aspects of new media.
New provisions relating to digital advertising and online behavioural advertising have been added - behavioural advertising is to customise content (advertising, products, texts) according to the users and identify their interests.
The general meeting of the Advertising Council, which took place on 10 June 2015 in the premises of Editus in Kayl, was entirely devoted to the topic of behavioural advertising on the internet.
Jérôme Guilmain, Director of Customers with Editus delivered a very interesting lecture on the evolution of Internet advertising, including on good practices of online behavioural advertising - OBA.
The new code of ethics of advertising in Luxembourg was accepted unanimously by all present at the General Assembly. The general principles of the Code of Conduct are truthfulness, loyalty, decency, social and environmental responsibility and respect for the private person. Various specific ethical rules relating to childhood, alcohol as well as health, banking and insurance and sales promotion. The new code of ethics of advertising in Luxembourg can be downloaded from the websites and conseilpublicite.lu clep.lu.
Responsibility and Respect
The Advertising Council of Luxembourg (CPL) - as an umbrella association for the professions of advertising - is an independent organisation whose mission is the promotion, valorisation, defense and freedom of publicity as well as the implementation of advertising self-regulation based on a code of ethics.
As a member of the European Alliance for Standards in Advertising (EASA), an international association that promotes self-regulation and industry best practices, the CPL includes Luxembourg advertisers, advertising agencies, media and advertising agencies in to defend their interests.
The CPL has implemented the Luxembourg Commission for Ethics in Advertising (CLEP) as an instance of self advertising Luxembourg.
