The organisers of CinEast, the Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg, have reported that the seventeenth edition, which began on 3 October 2024, attracted over 10,000 spectators (provisional figures).
The in-person part, with more than 120 sessions, ended on Sunday 20 October 2024, drawing more than 7,900 spectators. The online part has so far racked up more than 950 views.
In addition, over 1,400 people took part in the festival's special events (including concerts by Kalush Orchestra at the Rockhal and Lidiya Koycheva & Balkan Orkestra at the Melusina). The total number of participants in the 2024 edition therefore exceeded 10,200, and the final figures will be published after Sunday 10 November 2024 (when CinEast Online Cinema closes).
The organisers recalled that the CinEast Online Cinema platform will remain available until 10 November. It is possible to see some of the films screened during the festival via a pass at the special fare of €20 for five films, or individually for €6.50 per film (or by using the remaining credits of a pass purchased during the festival).
The festival presented 65 feature films and 45 short films from 20 countries of the former communist bloc in over 120 screenings. The Grand Prix for the 2024 edition went to the film Toxic by Lithuanian director Saulė Bliuvaitė.
