The organisers of CinEast, the Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg, have unveiled the full programme of the 13th “hybrid” edition of the festival, taking place from 8 to 25 October 2020.

The 13th edition of the CinEast festival will offer Luxembourg audiences a selection of the best films from 21 countries of the former communist bloc. On the festival programme are 47 feature films and more than 20 short films, around 20 guests (either physically present or by video conference), four cine-debates, four concerts (including a cine-concert), a large photography exhibition ("Planting the Future”), sessions for young audiences, a focus on Hungary (organised in collaboration with the National Film Institute Hungary and the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Brussels) and more.

The eight films in competition are: "Charlatan" by Agnieszka Holland; "Drita" by Daniel Kruglikov,;"Father" by Srdan Golubović; "Mare" by Andrea Štaka; "Otto the Barbarian" by Ruxandra Ghițescu; "Servants" by Ivan Ostrochovský; "Spiral" by Cecília Felméri; and "Stories from the Chestnut Woods" by Gregor Božić.

The festival includes over 110 in-person screenings at the Cinémathèque, Neimënster, Ciné Utopia, Kinepolis Kirchberg, Ancien Cinéma (Vianden), CNA (Dudelange), Mudam and others. Due to COVID-19-related restrictions, cinema capacity is greatly reduced. Many of the films will also be available online through "CinEast Online Cinema", a dedicated VOD platform (cineast.eventive.org). The number of online viewings for each film is also limited and online content is only available to audiences residing in Luxembourg.

Tickets for physical screenings as well as “CinEast Online Cinema” films must be booked online in advance. Ticket prices are €7 (physical screenings) and €5 (online screenings). A €30 “hybrid” pass (five cinema screenings plus five online screenings) and a €20 online pass (five online screenings) will soon be available on the above platform.
