On Friday 16 January 2026, Luxembourg’s Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy in collaboration with the Digital Learning Hub (DLH) and the National Institute for the Development of Continuing Vocational Training (INFPC), announced the launch of the fifth edition of “Elements of AI Luxembourg”.

With courses running from Monday 2 March to Friday 22 May 2026, this free initiative aims to raise public awareness of artificial intelligence (AI) and to provide training in its use.

“Elements of AI Luxembourg” contributes to the implementation of the national artificial intelligence strategy, in particular the component dedicated to awareness-raising and the development of basic AI skills within the population.

It responds to ongoing digital, economic and societal changes by equipping the public with the fundamental skills needed to understand and support the growing use of AI, particularly in the world of work.

Since its launch in Luxembourg, reportedly more than 5,300 people have completed the course, representing 0.828% of the working-age population. The organisations noted that with this new edition, Luxembourg continues to pursue one of its key objectives of the national AI strategy, namely to train 1% of the population by 2030.

Organised by the DLH, this edition, launched under the slogan “Catch the TrAIn”, focuses on three main pillars: increasing understanding of AI; promoting its responsible use; and strengthening the workforce’s ability to integrate it into everyday professional practices across all sectors.

Luxembourg's Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, Elisabeth Margue, stated: “Artificial intelligence is transforming our society, our economy and our relationship with information. In this context, it is essential that every citizen has the digital skills needed to understand these developments and to take part in them in an informed manner. In line with the objectives of the European Digital Decade, the ‘Elements of AI’ programme helps to strengthen digital literacy in Luxembourg and to prepare our society for the transformations brought about by AI.”

According to the organisations, this initiative stands out for its “inclusive approach, combining free access to an online certified course with support sessions led by experts”. This format aims to allow participants to grasp the fundamental concepts of AI, to understand the ethical, social and economic issues linked to this technology and to develop transversal skills that can be directly applied in their professional environment.

The course requires no prior knowledge and allows anyone interested, regardless of background, to follow it at their own pace. The programme is based on three complementary components:

  • the certified base training, available in English, which introduces the fundamental concepts of AI in a progressive and educational way;

  • online coaching sessions offered in French, English and Luxembourgish, allowing participants to deepen the topics covered, ask questions and exchange with experts;

  • discussion time, on-site mini-conferences in Esch-Belval, dedicated to exploring concrete applications of AI in different professional fields.

Serge Linckels, Head of the DLH, highlighted: “AI is transforming the world of work, and ‘Elements of AI Luxembourg’ allows everyone to train, strengthen their skills and contribute to the country’s competitiveness. Today, the DLH plays this central role of supporting skills development adapted to the needs of the labour market.”
