On Thursday 2 October 2025, the 8th edition of Luxembourg College Night took place at the International School of Luxembourg (ISL) in Luxembourg-Hollerich, bringing together representatives of colleges and universities in the United States to meet secondary school students and their families.

The aim of the event, hosted by EducationUSA Luxembourg and the International School of Luxembourg (ISL), was to provide guidance on studying in the US, offering insights into the application process, academic programmes, scholarships and campus life, as well as the chance to meet former students and hear about their experiences.

The evening opened with a speech by Ian Fish, Director of ISL, who urged students and parents to take an active role in exploring opportunities, ask questions and engage with the visiting institutions. He also emphasised the value of the fair in creating a space where families can gather information, reflect together and approach choices with greater confidence.

As in previous years, this year’s edition showcased stands with brochures, programme guides, digital resources and small giveaways, offering students and families practical information and direct contacts with university representatives.

The 2025 edition featured 21 stands, with representatives from sixteen US universities, including Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Vermont, Concordia University, Miami University of Ohio, Salve Regina University, University of South Dakota, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, Temple University, Southern Utah University, Snow College, Franklin University, Hult University, Lakeland University, Rice University and Coastal Carolina University.

Alongside the universities, other educational organisations were also represented, including ETS Global, Mengstudien (MESR), EducationUSA and ISL and for the first time, the fair featured a dedicated Student Athletes stand, where former student-athletes shared insights into sports scholarships.

Physical Education teacher at the European International School (EIS) in Luxembourg and former athlete, Trent Wurtz, who supported the stand, commented: “Success in both academics and sport comes down to initiative. Students who take the time to ask questions, seek feedback and push themselves outside their comfort zones are the ones who grow the most, both in the classroom and on the field.”

ISL’s Higher Education Counsellor, Maribeth Byrne and Head of Advancement, Seray Sayinatac, who were also advising students and networking during the fair, explained to Chronicle.lu that Luxembourg College Night forms part of wider “roadshow” tours, with universities travelling through Europe to visit international schools. They also noted that in comparison to ISL’s other annual education fairs - the European School Fair in November and the UK Fair in spring - the College Night attracts the strongest student interest in Luxembourg.
