Luxembourgish student association ACEL announced yesterday that students who need to extend their university studies due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be eligible for an additional year of financial aid (CEDIES) from the government.
The news of additional support for students follows discussions recently held between the student association and the Ministry of Higher Education. In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, ACEL recalled that each student can already benefit from a "bonus" year of support in "normal" circumstances, adding that the newest measures will only apply to students who have already exhausted preexisting measures and are struggling financially during the current crisis.
In this case, students can request an additional grant of up to €1,000 for their extended study period. Further details will be announced at a later date.
ACEL has welcomed these new measures.
