On Tuesday 8 July 2025, Kuwait Petroleum International (Q8), a global energy company, officially inaugurated its new service stations on both sides of the A3 motorway in Berchem, Luxembourg.

These sites, which Q8 has been operating under concession since 1 May 2025 for a period of four years, bring the company’s total network in Luxembourg to 40 service stations.

The official inauguration brought together around 100 attendees, including Chairman and CEO of Kuwait Petroleum International, Shafi Taleb Al-Ajmi, Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, SMEs and Energy, Lex Delles, and Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Belgium and Luxembourg, Nawaf N. Alenezi,.

“Luxembourg has always stood tall in history,” stated Shafi Taleb Al-Ajmi in his opening speech. “Though small in scale, it has earned its place through strength, strategy and foresight.” He described the launch of the two Berchem stations as part of Q8’s broader ambition to advance smart and sustainable mobility: “We are not just expanding our business, we are advancing a shared vision for future mobility.”

“I’m very honoured to be here today. We see the Kuwait team coming not only from Europe but also from Kuwait, the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium to open this station in Luxembourg,” stated Minister Lex Delles in his opening speech. “It’s one of the largest, on both sides of the motorway, and you won two tenders directly.” He praised the stations’ visibility and role as a gateway to Luxembourg: “It’s not only a petrol station - it’s a place where people can meet and discover the country. Q8 plays a crucial role in showing Luxembourg to the millions of tourists who pass through Berchem.”

Nawaf N. Alenezi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait, stated: “We sincerely value the strong partnership between Kuwait and Luxembourg.” He added: “The inauguration of this new Q8 station is a meaningful example of that cooperation in action.”

Echoing this sentiment, Patrick Sinner, Country Coordinator for Q8 Luxembourg, remarked: "Because we're not just opening a new station. We are opening a flagship location that embodies everything Q8 stands for: drive, innovation and progress. These two highway stations are already iconic. Now, under the Q8 brand, we are taking them even further. Our goal is to turn them into benchmarks for full-service mobility in the region."

Looking ahead, Q8 plans to open three new full-service stations in Luxembourg over the next five years. The company also aims to expand its electric mobility infrastructure, with three new fast-charging stations set to be added by the end of 2025 and at least 20 service stations expected to be equipped with Q8 electric charging points by 2030.
