On Wednesday 9 April 2025, the Riderbësch forest in Betzdorf hosted the second edition of the event “De Bësch beweegt dech”, organised by Caritas Jeunes et Familles (CJF).

According to CJF, around 400 children aged six to twelve from CJF educational and childcare structures took part in a day dedicated to movement and exploration in the forest. They were accompanied by 70 educators and young volunteers who supervised the activities.

Organised with the support of the Maison Relais (childcare facility) of Betzdorf, the event aimed to encourage children to explore nature through physical activity, develop coordination, balance and autonomy and reconnect with the forest as a natural space for play and learning. The experience also aimed to inspire children to share new ways of being active with their families, away from screens and in tune with nature.

The event took place in the presence of: Marco Deepen, Head of the General Directorate for Children (Ministry of Education, Children and Youth); Marie-Claire Ruppert, Alderwoman of the municipality of Betzdorf; Carina Gonçalves, Director General of CJF; Pascale Schmit, Director of CJF. Their attendance underscored the importance of non-formal education, prevention and the quality of relationships between children, educators and the environment, the organisers noted.
