On Monday 30 November and Tuesday 1 December 2015, the Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Economy, Étienne Schneider, will chair the 'Competitiveness' Council meeting, to be devoted to issues concerning the internal market and industry.
The second edition of the competitiveness 'check-up', following on from the extraordinary meeting held earlier this month, will aim to highlight priorities, urgent issues and developments to be addressed in the real economy. An exchange of views is expected to focus on the link between the state of integration of the internal market and EU competitiveness in global markets.
The European Ministers responsible for competitiveness will also discuss, for the first time, the strategy for the internal market for goods and services. In addition, the Council will examine how the new programme for better regulation could be used to improve the functioning of the single market and create growth. The Ministers will also discuss a recommendation on the creation of a system of national competitiveness councils in the eurozone.
