The LCGB trade union yesterday stated that it has launched an information campaign in order to educate families on the planned 6982 reform law on family benefits, which it claimed would negatively effect families.
The LCGB claimed that this proposed legislation would see budget cuts saving the government €15 million in 2016, but at the expense of families and children, alleging that few families would come out ahead following the reform.
The LCGB therefore decided to launch a Facebook page with the message of 'STOP to Fiscal Insanity' with the aim of putting an end to the proposed reform which it declared "senseless, unjust and antisocial". The trade union has also put a digital calculator on its website (www.lcgb.lu) with allows families to view changes for 2016 and assess their individual situation with regards to family allowances, school allowance and supplementary allowance for disabled children.
The LCGB concluded that the government had not proposed any concrete route for defining a coherent family policy nor offered more support to single-parent families in the fight against child poverty.
