Belgium has emerged victorious against their Luxembourgish and Dutch opponents in the first Benelux Curling Cup, held in Zemst (Belgium) over the weekend.

The Belgian team won with 30 points out of the 72 points available, just ahead of Luxembourg and the Netherlands, both of whom had 21 points. In a highly contested tournament, Belgium secured victory with nine wins and two draws. Luxembourg's national team achieved six wins and two draws, whilst the Netherlands secured seven wins.

During this first edition of the Cup, all four national teams had to compete against the four teams from the other two countries (four games per team). Team Luxembourg 1 (Susi Benoy, Marc Husi, Karen Wauters and Alex Benoy) secured two victories, whilst Luxembourg 2 (Andy Schellen, Virgine Hansen, Mike Isenor and Marco Etienne) finished with one draw - a success considering that this was Andy and Virginie's first international participation. The Luxembourg Double 1 team (Philippe Giltaire and Claude Schweitzer) also won two games and got one draw. Luxembourg Double 2 (different players from the two teams) also secured two wins.

Luxembourg's group dynamics and the game atmosphere brought new cohesion to the teams. In addition, the integration of the newer, younger players is proof of the promising future of Curling Luxembourg.

The second edition of the Benelux Curling Cup will be held in Zoetermeer (Netherlands) at the end of September 2020.
