The Luxembourg Double National Curling Championships took place on the dedicated curling ice at the Kockelscheuer ice rink on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March 2024.
Luxembourg Curling confirmed that six teams entered the competition. The registered teams were composed of two players playing each other in a round robin format, after which a final ranking was made.
The team composed of Ian Munn and Marc Hansen, representing Curling Club Red Lions won the 2024 championships after winning three games, securing one draw and suffering one loss. They ended up with seven points, ahead of three teams with six points each.
Marc Hansen commented: "I am very proud to win the Doubles as well with my partner Ian Munn who played some sensational stones. It has to be underlined that all participating curlers played really well and that each team was able to beat each other."
The other teams were Wauters/Chartrand (six points), Hansen/Phillips (six points), Schweitzer/Kelly (six points), Spurgeon/Schweich (five points) and Louie/Benoy (zero points).
Alex Benoy, President of the Luxembourg Curling Association, stated: "The quality of the the games this weekend demonstrates the importance of the growing base of Luxembourg curlers and the impact of the promotion and training activities that are being driven by Curling Luxembourg. Congratulations to all curlers and to all the volunteers for a well organised tournament."
