Curling Luxembourg has announced that it will be holding its first Benelux Curling Championship over the weekend.

The rules of the championship state that each country must have a minimum of eight players, including at least two female players, and every country forms two teams for each doubles game. In addition, every game has six ends- if after the score is equal at the end, one player from each team plays a draw shot.

The winning team gets three points for their country. A tie and win in the draw shot is worth two points, whilst a tie but loss in the draw shot is worth one. In the case of a loss, the country receives zero points.

The country with the most points will win the first Benelux Cup (if the score is equal, two players will play a draw shot to determine the final winner).

The Luxembourg teams are as follows:

Luxembourg 1  Susi Benoy, Marc Husi, Karen Wauters and Alex Benoy

Luxembourg 2  Andy Schellen, Mike Isenor, Philippe Giltaire, Virginie Hansen and Marco Etienne

Luxembourg Doubles 1  Claude Schweitzer and Dan Kelly

Luxembourg Doubles 2  TBC

The Luxembourg national teams will try their best to beat the Netherlands, who are currently the favourite to win the championship. Team spirit will play an important role in this very first championship.
