On Thursday 3 March 2022, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the new building for the National Archives in Belval in the presence of Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch, and the Minister of Culture, Sam Tanson.
After almost twenty years of discussions and waiting, work on the new National Archives building has finally begun.
"With these new infrastructures that comply with current standards of sustainable development and energy efficiency, the National Archives will soon be able to store all their documents in excellent conditions", underlined Minister Bausch.
Minister Tanson said: “Adequate management of information and archives is essential for the maintenance and transmission of our collective memory. A great asset of this site in Belval is obviously the proximity and the connections with the University of Luxembourg”.
