The Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck (CAPE) has announced its programme for the 2017/2018 season, opening on 23 September 2017.
From music to dance to visual arts, theatre and musical theatre, CAPE works to maintain a good balance between the different disciplines, and this season the centre will add extra diversity to its programme with new circus shows.
Es'CAPE Music Club, now an established concert jazz concert series, as well as conferences on the themes of travel and knowledge of the arts, will be enriched this year by the return of the Festival a'CAPElla, conceived entirely around the exploration of the voice and singing a cappella.
The season will open with a Luxembourgish collaboration between the musicians from Murphy’s Law and the Musique Militaire, who will perform their music arranged for orchestra harmony.
This season, a total of 10 co-productions with other Luxembourg cultural houses will be launched, four of which will be aimed specifically at young audiences, such as CAKU, designed in collaboration with the Mierscher Kulturhaus.
For this year's Christmas concert, the Chœurs des Jeunes of the Conservatoire du Nord will perform on stage with the prestigious Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió (Catalunya). The spirit of Christmas will also be evoked by the Danceperados of Ireland, who combine Irish melodies and Gaelic hymns with traditional tap dancing.
During Easter, the Belgian ensemble Scherzi Musicali will offer spectators an exceptional concert. Additionally, this year, CAPE is a new partner of the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Competition and will present the recital of the competition’s winner on 28 March 2018.
Luxembourg jazz will then be represented by the Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra, after a residence at CAPE, with the presence of Canadian sisters Christine and Ingrid Jensen.
Another highlight will be the Broadway Musical Company New York’s performance of the musical comedy “Hair” on 9 May 2018.
