On Monday 15 June 2026, the China Cultural Centre Luxembourg (CCCL) in Luxembourg city centre held the official opening of an exhibition entitled "China Porcelain: Chinese Contemporary Ceramic Art International Touring Exhibition".

The exhibition features porcelain and artists from Jiangxi Province, and is touring Istanbul, Paris and Luxembourg (between 15 June and 30 August).

Around one hundred guests attended the official opening on the ground floor, with the exhibition on the 1st floor and workshops being organised on the 2nd floor.

The speeches were delivered in Chinese, English and French, and included both Chinese and Luxembourgish artists. They addressed porcelain production representing a national cultural signature, expressing a 1,700+ year history of blue and white porcelain, with the exhibition allowing cultural exchange.

Zhang Jingjing, Vice President of Jingdezhen Ceramic University in Jiangxi Province, was not able to attend in person; however, she appeared via a pre-recorded video link and said that she hoped the exhibition would be well received, illustrating the link between the past and the present.

The Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg, Hua Ning, referenced the ancient maritime trading route linking China and Europe, with historic examples on display in institutions such as the British Museum in London. He said that China is very proud of its history of porcelain production, mentioning that this is one area in which it has never been accused of over-production...

In addition to the exhibition itself, a number of different workshops / demonstrations are being held within the auspices of the ten-week exhibition, showcasing the link between the legacy of historic, and the creativity of contemporary, porcelain production.

Talking with Chronicle.lu, artist Guo Jiaqi, the Executive Director of Luoyang Sancai Art Museum, explained how he is inspired by Sancai art. He created a piece of the United Nations in New York, based on sound waves from a loudspeaker, entitled "Together Toward a Shared Future".

After the formal speeches, the exhibition was declared open and Ambassador Hua Ning and other guests were brought on a guided tour of the exhibits, with each artist in attendance providing background information on their creations.

The evening continued with a crémant and food reception.
