The Société luxembourgeoise d’histoire urbaine has organised a series of guided visits and conferences related to urban history, to take place on 12 and 23 March 2017 and 1 April 2017.
The first visit-conference “Une ville rejoint sa gare”, organised by the MNHA/Musée 3 Eechelen & SLHU, will be given by Robert L. Philippart and will take place on 12 March, starting from the Place de la gare in front of the Grand-Ducal pavilion at 10:30. The visit will last until 12:00, ending at the Place de Paris.
This first visit-conference will deal with the development of the Gare district in the 19th century. The route entails the Place de la Gare, Avenue de la Gare, Place Wallis, Église du Sacré Coeur, Avenue de la Liberté and Place de Paris.
The following conferences will be on 23 March and 1 April respectively. The first, entitled “De Fieldgen am Zentrum vun der Entwécklung vum Garer Quartier”, will also deal with the history and development of the railway district. The second, entitled “Urban Sketching: le pont Adolphe”, will offer a short presentation on the history of the Pont Adolphe, its environment and its impact on urban space. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in a sketching session.
All three guided conferences will be given by the historian Robert Philippart.
