The Luxembourg men's national cricket team played a three-match T20 International (T20I) series against Switzerland on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 June 2025 at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground in Walferdange.
Luxembourg fielded the following squad for the T20I series against Switzerland: Shiv Karan Singh Gill (captain), Advyth Manepalli, Amit Halbhavi, Anoop Orsu, Ankush Nanda, Ben Embleton, Girish Venkateshwaran, Kamal Soukhiya, Mayank Nagayach, Milad Momand, Sareer Shah, Shameek Vats, Vikram Vijh and Vivek Dixit.
On the opening day of the series, both matches went in favour of the visiting Swiss side. Despite an early breakthrough by Ankush Nanda, who bowled Idrees Haque for seven, Switzerland recovered through a strong partnership and posted 163/6 in the first game. Luxembourg struggled in response and were bowled out for 106, losing by 57 runs.
In the second match, Luxembourg again fielded first. Early wickets from Ankush Nanda and Sareer Shah reduced Switzerland to 119/7, but a late partnership between Sheraz Sirwani and Aneesh Kuma took the visitors to 168/8. In response, Luxembourg’s chase was led by a 103-run stand between Shiv Karan Singh Gill (40) and Advyth Manepalli (57). After their dismissals, the scoring slowed. Anoop Orsu remained not out on 30, but Luxembourg were restricted to 157/5 and lost by eleven runs.
On Sunday Luxembourg fielded first after losing the toss again in the third and final match. A disciplined bowling performance from Sareer Shah, Milad Momand, Ankush Nanda and Girish Venkateswaran saw Switzerland dismissed for 139 in 20 overs. In response, Luxembourg successfully chased the target, reaching 140/3 in 17.3 overs to claim a seven-wicket victory.
Team Manager for the Luxembourg Men's National Team, Stuart May, reflected on the outcome, noting that while the final win provided a positive end to the series for the hosts, it did not take away from Switzerland’s overall dominance. “Their powerful batting, strong bowling line-up and athleticism in the field proved too strong overall for a new-look Luxembourg team,” he stated.
The Luxembourg Men’s National Team will next compete in the Budapest Cup, set to take place in Hungary from Thursday 24 to Monday 28 July 2025.
