Following its two Christmas concerts in London and Esch-sur-Alzette, the Luso Academy music school presented a cheque for €600 to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Esch-sur-Alzette.
The Luso Academy school of music, created in 2012 in England and in 2014 in Luxembourg (in Esch-sur-Alzette with the Portuguese Social and Cultural Centre which hosts it), aims to offer a musical education as well as to give a dream to the little Portuguese-speakers. It organises regular concerts with them, the proceeds of which are donated to humanitarian associations working for children. This year, the Christmas Concerts on 10 December in London and 17 December in Esch-sur-Alzette were dedicated to the projects of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde.
In the Church of the Sacred Heart in Esch-sur-Alzette, children and teachers organised a programme of rhymes and Christmas carols in which guitars, violins and pianos have woven beautiful chords and shown the talent of these budding musicians to a conquered public.
The €600 collected was presented at the end of the concert to Patrick Simon, deputy director of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, and Sonia Dos Santos, responsible for partnerships and events. Patrick Simon warmly thanked the Luso Academy and congratulated the children before presenting the Luxembourg association and the various projects it supports in the world. In this time of great urgency, particularly in Syria, he focused on Children's Friendly Spaces, where SOS offers a protected area for traumatised children who find basic care as well as emotional support and creative activities.
