The Fonds Kirchberg recently organised two open days inviting the public to explore the site of the future Kuebebierg district, held from Friday 27 to Saturday 28 June 2025.

The event included a marked walking route with animations, tasting stands and explanatory panels, offering visitors an opportunity to discover the site’s natural setting and early infrastructure.

Located on the eastern side of the Kirchberg plateau, the future Kuebebierg district will cover 30 hectares and is expected to include over 3,000 residential units by 2034. The site is surrounded by the Gréngewald forest, the Märtesgrond area and a Natura 2000 protected zone.

According to the Fonds Kirchberg, initial development focused on green areas and recreational infrastructure, including a public play meadow, planted zones, and biodiversity features such as bird nesting boxes, a bat tower and "forest fingers" extending wooded areas into the site. Local residents, employees and visitors already had access to these installations. Local residents, employees and visitors already had access to these installations.

The site also includes an urban farm managed by Aurel&Axel, which supports “sustainable maintenance” and “pre-greening efforts”. The farm is expected to eventually offer local produce, educational activities for schools, shared gardens and neighbourhood services under a “zero-waste model”.

Construction of the district is scheduled from 2025 to 2034. The project, noted the Fonds Kirchberg, includes public facilities, extensive green spaces and infrastructure designed around sustainable mobility and a renewable energy mix (geothermal, aerothermal and solar), in line with eco-district principles.
