At the request of various choreographic artists, the TROIS C-L - Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois and the Centre Culturel de Rencontre Abbaye de Neumünster (neimënster) have joined forces with the Theater Federatioun to organise their first conference on the fight against sexual violence and discrimination in the performing arts for the dance, theatre and performance sectors at neimënster in Luxembourg-Grund on Friday 11 November 2022 at 14:00.

The "Unmute Power Abuse" conference, moderated by Marie-Laure Rolland, will present three international structures created by and for artists which serve as places of information, listening, advice and awareness within the context of the fight against violence and discrimination in the performing arts.

This two-part conference will begin with a presentation of the following organisations, their missions and their activities: Engagement (Belgium), presented by Anna Muchin; Whistle (US), presented by Robyn Doty; SFA (France), presented by Tristan Ihne. An open discussion with the public and a coffee break in the second part will allow those present to get information, to understand the workings and the means available to artists thanks to these organisations and to discuss the importance of creating "safe spaces".

The multilingual conference will take place in person in Salle José Ensch at neimënster. Free registration via email: billeterie@neimenster.lu. The conference can also be followed remotely via a livestream platform; further information via tel.: 26 20 52 – 1.

Speakers

Anna Muchin is a Franco-Greek author-composer, musician and translator, who lives in Brussels. Since 2017, she has been an active member of the Engagement Arts movement which fights against sexism, sexual violence, harassment and abuse of power in the artistic world in Belgium and internationally.

Author and playwright Robyn Doty co-directs (alongside dancer and choreographer Frances Chiaverini) Whistle, a platform whose objective is to confront sexism in dance workspaces as well as other forms of discrimination and abuse. The priority of the platform is above all to defend dancers.

Tristan Ihne is a dancer (and SFA union representative) at the CCN Ballet de Lorraine and editor-in-chief of the webzine Das Kuma; he is also a member of the national council and the national office of the SFA French performers' union. SFA is committed to achieving equality between women and men, particularly through the establishment of a listening unit for performers who are victims of sexism or sexual violence in the context of a working relationship.
