On Tuesday 24 February 2026, the Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation Stëmm vun der Strooss, which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable individuals, announced extended opening hours for its social restaurants.
According to the organisation, rising demand and recent developments at the social restaurant in Esch-sur-Alzette have led to an expanded food service offer in recent weeks. The restaurant in Ettelbruck has also adjusted its organisation.
Since Monday 12 January 2026, the social restaurant in Esch-sur-Alzette has offered daily breakfast from 09:00 to 11:00 and lunch from 11:45 to 16:00, and since Saturday 24 January 2026, the site has opened seven days a week, ensuring continuous service throughout the week. Since Monday 9 February 2026, the restaurant has also added evening takeaway meal packages to strengthen support for beneficiaries beyond regular on-site service hours.
Following these new developments in Esch-sur-Alzette, the social restaurant in Ettelbruck has also expanded its offer. It remains open on weekdays from Monday to Friday, serving lunch from 11:30 to 15:30, with an additional opening every second Sunday of the month from 11:30 to 13:30. Furthermore, on every first and third Saturday of the month, breakfast is offered from 08:00 to 11:00, provided by the Order of Malta Luxembourg.
The social restaurant in Hollerich has maintained its usual operations and continues to open from Monday to Friday, serving lunch from 11:30 to 15:30, as well as every second Saturday of the month from 11:30 to 13:30.
In addition, Saxophone in Luxembourg-Hollerich has extended its opening hours. Over the past six months, the social bistro has opened earlier, operating from 11:00 to 16:00. The team offers free meals such as sandwiches, soup, fruit juices, water and coffee, as well as brunch. The site plans a further extension of opening hours in the coming days.
Stëmm vun der Strooss noted that these adjustments have helped to strengthen the accessibility and continuity of food assistance across the different sites by ensuring a broader presence and a more comprehensive response to the needs of the people concerned.
