On Friday 21 June 2024, the Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation for Africa, Follereau Foundation (FFL) announced that the Fieldgen Private School recently presented it with a cheque for €24,739.72.

This amount, collected thanks to the involvement of students, teachers, staff and alumni during the traditional "Follereau Week" 2024, will finance the activities of the project to combat child trafficking in Northern Benin for this year.

The Parakou and Djougou region in Northern Benin is a key crossroads for human trafficking and more particularly child trafficking, with thousands of young people being exploited each year, the association stressed. Faced with this reality, the FFL is implementing concrete actions to protect vulnerable children: distribution of school kits, psychosocial and legal support, socio-professional reintegration and training in micro-enterprise management.

This donation demonstrates the school community's commitment to humanitarian causes, the association underlined. The amount raised will notably support a crucial project to combat child trafficking in Benin, a country where 31% of the population, or 4,293,500 people, live on less than €1 per day.

Thanks to the generosity of the Fieldgen Private School, the FFL noted it will be able to intensify its efforts and guarantee a better future for Beninese children. “This gesture of solidarity is tangible proof that collective commitment can transform lives and offer opportunities where they are most needed,” the FFL concluded.
