On Thursday 10 July 2025, Stëmm vun der Strooss, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society, reported that it had recently received a donation from the children from the Jean-Jaurès School in Esch-sur-Alzette

During the school’s festival, a delegation of children, in the presence of numerous parents and members, handed over a cheque for €1,500 to Alexandra Oxacelay, director of Stëmm vun der Strooss.

According to teacher Olivia Storione, the money was raised through the direct involvement of the pupils. She explained: "The decision to support an organisation that helps disadvantaged people, and Stëmm vun der Strooss in particular, was made by the children themselves. The donations were collected during the school's traditional sports day - a sign of the children's active and concrete commitment to solidarity.”

Stëmm vun der Strooss has confirmed that the donation will go to the Schweessdrëps project in Sanem. This is a professional reintegration workshop run by Stëmm vun der Strooss, specialising in the cleaning of sportswear. Over 30 people in reintegration employment work there, cleaning the equipment and uniforms of more than 40 sports clubs across Luxembourg.

The organisation has said that thanks to this donation it will be able to invest in new equipment and improve working conditions for its staff. They remarked that it was “a meaningful contribution to both the quality of the service and the project’s social impact” and said it was a “beautiful gesture from young citizens who have combined sports, engagement and solidarity”.
