The Municipality of Steinfort has reported that the Steinfort Christmas Market, a local institution steeped in tradition and solidarity, recently donated €5,000 to two local non-profit organisations.

The donation ceremony took place at the Al Schmelz cultural centre in Steinfort on the evening of Tuesday 2 April 2024.

Each year, a portion of the proceeds from this Christmas Market is dedicated to supporting charitable organisations working for the well-being of the most vulnerable in Luxembourg. According to the municipality, the 22nd edition, held last December, was "a great success" owing to the active participation of exhibitors, local associations and visitors.

During a small ceremony on Tuesday, the Steinfort municipal council, in collaboration with the Entente des Sociétés, presented cheques worth €2,500 each to two non-profit organisations. The first, Canne Blanche asbl, works to improve the lives of people who are blind or severely visually impaired. The second, Fondation Autisme, provides valuable support to people affected by autism.

In his speech, the Mayor of Steinfort, Sammy Wagner, thanked all those who contributed to the success of this Christmas Market, which is "known far beyond the borders of Luxembourg". He emphasised the importance of the solidarity and generosity that characterise the spirit of Steinfort.

This annual gathering would not be complete without the announcement of the next edition of the Steinfort Christmas Market, which is scheduled for the second and third weekends of December 2024, in the park between the town hall and Villa Collart.

The cheque presentation was followed by the traditional "glass of honour".
