On Monday 18 December 2023, SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde’s Giving Tuesday 2023 solidarity campaign received €4,180 raised by CASINO 2OOO for health and nutrition services in Ethiopia.

For the third year in a row, the CASINO 2OOO team has been involved alongside the Luxembourg NGO SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde in its Giving Tuesday solidarity campaign which raises awareness of its work for the most vulnerable children in the world, especially those facing major crises.

In 2023, the action took place in November in the famous Purple Lounge and Les Roses restaurants at Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains. The “1€ per cover” operation and the installation of collection points internally and at the reception of the brands made it possible to raise the nice sum of €4,180€. This is to be allocated to an emergency aid programme in Ethiopia focused on the provision of essential health and nutrition services. On the eve of the end-of-year celebrations, members of the management and team of CASINO 2OOO invited representatives of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde for a cheque presentation.

The meeting which took place in mid-December in Mondorf-les-Bains brought together Anne Leick (Marketing & Sales Director), Lydia Biringer-Schmitt (Finance & HR Director) and Marine Weber (Marketing Assistant) from CASINO 2OOO and Sophie Glesener (Director) and Anne Schweizer (Partnerships Manager) of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde. They warmly thanked their long-time partner for their generous generosity and spoke about this year's beneficiary project.

One of the poorest countries in the world, Ethiopia, where SOS Children's Villages has been present since 1974, has been hit hard by serious humanitarian crises linked to a conflict that has been raging for years and extreme droughts responsible for severe malnutrition among the most vulnerable populations and is currently experiencing catastrophic flooding. In the Oromiya region, the local SOS team will provide health and nutrition services to people suffering from malnutrition, especially young children and pregnant or breastfeeding women. These services will be provided in existing health posts and centers or through mobile teams that travel to remote areas.
