Luxembourg non-profit organisation Stëmm vun der Strooss has reported that its post-therapeutic centre, located in Schoenfels, opened its doors as part of the "Open Gardens" event organised by the league Gaart an Heem (garden and home) on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June 2023.
The post-therapeutic centre’s residents were invited to share their passion for gardens by welcoming external visitors during these two days. Stëmm vun der Strooss distributed flyers in the Mersch municipality post boxes to promote the event.
53 visitors came during the weekend and contributed donations of around €150. Each guest received a basil plant as a token of appreciation for their visit.
These moments allowed for exchanges between the residents of the post-therapeutic centre and the municipality’s inhabitants. "Sharing the beauty of gardens with visitors from all walks of life is a form of social integration," emphasised site manager Tony Barrela.
Stëmm vun der Strooss expressed its gratitude to all the visitors who contributed to the success of this day, as well as the league Gaart an Heem for their organisation.
