On Sunday 9 February 2025, the Luxembourg women's national basketball team played their final match in the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers, suffering a defeat away to Montenegro.

Mariusz Dziurdzia's side travelled to Bar as the leaders of Group H, having secured an emphatic 78:37 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday. However, they were unable to maintain their dominance. The hosts made a strong start, going on 10-point run and closing the first quarter with a commanding 31:12 lead. Luxembourg managed to reduce the deficit before half-time, trailing by just 11 points going into the second half.

Despite their efforts, Luxembourg could not catch up with their opponents. A poor shooting performance, particularly from beyond the arc - just two successful three-pointers from 18 attempts - proved costly, leading to a 53:86 defeat. Not even a double-double from Amanda Cahill (13 points and 10 rebounds) was enough to turn the tide.

As a result, Montenegro finished level on points (10) with Luxembourg but claimed the top spot due to a superior points tally across the qualification campaign. Switzerland also moved ahead in the final standings after thrashing Bosnia and Herzegovina 87:39 in a parallel fixture.

The Luxembourg women's national basketball team concluded their EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers in third place in Group H, just falling short of securing a historic first-ever qualification for the tournament's final stage.

The 2025 European Championship will be hosted across four countries: Italy, Germany, Greece and Czechia, with matches taking place from 18 to 29 June 2025.
